A1, not defending him the least but just saying the story might not be as it was said to be. If it were something serious he definitely would have been sentenced more than 2 years in jail.

My bet is because he had sex with a minor, and there was little evidence to support a full on rape charge, they gave him whatever they could.

"Rape", as horrendous an act as it is, is often misused in the courts. I don't know what happened here, but unless the evidence is clear, I'm a bit skeptical.

According to the police report, Noor approached the girl after 4 p.m. on June 2 near the Somali Business Center at 122 23rd St., pulled her into a concealed area between the fence and the building and sexually assaulted her there.

The girl escaped and alerted others, who chased Noor, police said. He was arrested a block away.

Prosecutor Leah Viste, an assistant Cass County state’s attorney, said several factors were considered in deciding to amend the charge. She said she believes the resolution “fairly and justly” addresses the matter.
