Mass Shootings In US: Problems Not Guns

Postby Murax » Tue Dec 18, 2012 10:00 am

The NRA (National Rifle Association) is a very powerful lobby in the US, and the US unlike Europe, Asia etc. have always had a society that is very much safe. However I think its foolish and shortsighted to cite Guns as the singular reason for these mass shootings. Say You put in strict Gun Control its already way too late, there's Guns all over the Country now. Whoever wants one will get it no matter what. The real problem nobody wants to talk about is the growing number of disturbed, mentally unstable people running about and How nothing is being done to institutionalize these folks in places where they are not a threat to society. I say this because I know first hand people who have severe cases of psychosis, bi-polar, etc. and have seen the US Government's stinginess in lending them any help. Bottom line is as far as I see it a lot of these folks who badly need help are pretty much a time bomb that can explode at any second. Until something is done to stop that, these stuff will continue.

Mental health is a huge stigma in this country and it needs to change. Also, the intense pressures of American life can also be another reason.

Wait you guys think crazy people only exist in the States? So having the biggest gun circulation and 30 k shooting deaths annually compared to 39 in the UK for example is not the issue but its solely mental health. You guys have been brainwashed. Also did Murax really say American society is safer than European? :russ: You need to get out more breh.

Jaidi, Shirib,

Gun Control being a debate, is absolustely dumb. Weapons are not going anywhere, period. The absolute most that can happen is a ban on certain types of assault rifles. As if it matters whether You shoot a 5 year old child or any human for that matter in the chest with a Bushmaster rifle or a Pistol. Weapons is a Constitution issue like freedom of speech etc. Having a debate about weapons is really futile. What the debate should be about is getting the crazies off the streets.

Assault rifle and semi automatic ban is gun control sir. Stricter gun laws are needed. We know we're not gonna get all guns off the streets but something needs to be done with these guns. Giving all sorts of guns to everyone and anyone is ridiculous.

You can't take someone off the street who hasn't done anything wrong. What you can do, is keep him away from getting a gun!

When the Assault Rifle bad took effect in 94, that decade from 94-04 saw less murders and mass killings then the decade before, and since its been lifted you've had Virginia Tech, Aurora, Newtown, to name just a few.

There's a correlation, you give people access to more guns, and you will get mass shootings. If you make bomb making legal, I guarantee you, bombings will increase. Saying the issue is not guns, is a ridiculous argument. That dumb kid in Connecticut wasn't gonna kill 27 people with a knife, or even a shot gun. The only way he kills that many people is with a high powered rifle like the one he had.

There is 300 million guns in the hands of non military people, so during hunting season opener, there were over 50 million people who were armed and hunting. That is easily largest army on the planet. No enemy would ever invade America.

There are more gun retailers in the United States than McDonalds Restaurants and supermarkets combined.
