I could smell them from a mile away. Their facial muscles are usually permanently fixed on these facial looksElf, seriously I would stay away but you never know who they are! If Somalia's president is serious about the diaspora coming back, he has to make the place safe for women! Picking on women who didnt even grow up in Somalia and pointing out nipples under clothing makes Somalia sound like the type of place no one would ever return to. It will remain a place we go back to when we want to see our relatives but nothing more. I dont mean that I want to walk around with tight or short clothes, just that when the focus is on women's outer clothing, you know that it will be a place hostile to women in general.

On a serious note. Women would have to demand what they want, don't expect the few good men around to lead the way for us. They haven't done that in centuries and they won't start doing it now. The first thing women should focus on is banning FGM. Women in Somalia will not be able to stand up for their basic rights, if they are mutilating their own daughters. There are some women who deem the current status quo as completely normal as well. Internalizing one's own abuse only perpetuates more abuse to occur. One has to know their worth, and women organizations that provide support for women who say "enough is enough" should be initiated. Otherwise, plenty of women will end up returning to abusive relationships.
There is a lot to be done to be honest.
