Polygraph Exam -- Security Clearance...

Postby Navy9 » Fri Feb 01, 2013 1:42 am

Lessons Learned

- It normally takes 3 hours for each of the two sessions if not more, so make sure that you have rested well before taking it.
- The examiners will play the role of "good cop" and "bad cop", make sure to never let that the bad cop get under your skin. You can easily figure out the bad cop since he/she will have an intimidating demeanor.
- If they insist that you are not telling the truth since the machine is saying so, do not fall for it.
- If they continue pressing the above line, calmly reply "do you want me to lie to you."

...and yeah above all be truthful, lies can be easily forgotten.

Try to get sponsored for the Full Scope Polygraph, it will open alot of doors for you, not to mention that big salary you will get.

Security clearance can take from three months up to 2 years depending on:

- where you lived most of your life, if its in the States it will be faster
- your travels abroad
-the agency that is sponsoring you

Its impossible to get a clearance without getting lucky into getting a job that will pay for it. I've given up on it at this point.

its not that difficult, esp that you are born here. The process is bit long but its not impossible.

I met this Somali girl in the summer; she applied for the Open Source center and i believe she started the process two summers ago. If I am not mistaken, she started her new job in the Fall. But the thing is if you start a job with the government, your pay will not be as high as when you are working in the private sector but at least your job will be secured, they wont let you go if you have been there more than a year.

No. The only way to get these jobs is to know someone on the inside who can skip you through the application process. I've applied to nearly a hundred of these type of jobs in 2011 and didn't sniff anything.

There's a guy at my job right now who worked at DOD and was trying to get a clearence, even saying to his friends he'd be a paid intern (to pay his bills) while the clearence process was going through. But they said they couldn't do it.

These orgs will pay tens of thousands of dollars to get 1 employee a clearence. Getting in is the hardest and nearly impossible.

Murax,

I have taken two Polys. Once when I was processed for the TS. I remember the woman examiner pissed the hell out of me and I was angry for a whole week. I didn't know what she was doing, i only thought she was being rude.

The second time when I was proccessed for the Full scope but this time; i think i pissed off the examiner. I shouldn't have done that but the idiot tempted me to do so. That is very wrong, I should have been calm and collected.

So, i guess both cases, I was not emotionally smart enough.

Fah,

That is not the case all the time, walaalo. I didn't seek the clearance rather my boss offered me to be processed. But i guess at the time i worked on a government contract, so maybe that helped me a bit.

not regular jobs, omar.

Just if you want to work in contracts that the government sees as confidential.
