You know Fah, this white american female friend of mine, applied a job with the FBI when she started grad school. After two years and plus, the FBI processed her clearance and offered her a job in the mid-west. She declined their offer and got a much better job in DC.

If you want something, try not to be discouraged, you can always find alternatives. :D

not regular jobs, omar.

Just if you want to work in contracts that the government sees as confidential.
ok here in the UK we have regular background checks for all jobs where the last 5 years is checked for what you were doing i.e. studying; in employment etc.
For my current job it took 2 months for my background checks to clear and they check rigorously e.g. there was a gap of 1month 5 years ago and they needed proof that I went on holiday (I couldn't say I went to somalia so I just said dubai) and they even ask for a copy of the ticket.

Murax,

I have taken two Polys. Once when I was processed for the TS. I remember the woman examiner pissed the hell out of me and I was angry for a whole week. I didn't know what she was doing, i only thought she was being rude.

The second time when I was proccessed for the Full scope but this time; i think i pissed off the examiner. I shouldn't have done that but the idiot tempted me to do so. That is very wrong, I should have been calm and collected.

So, i guess both cases, I was not emotionally smart enough.

Remember to be calm at all times, no matter what.
Wow...So did You have the SSBI before the polygraph? Since its only paperwork I assume it can't be that bad.

is that when the investigator sits down with you over your application? Man, that was another torturing BS and boy they are very weird and very longggggg.

I see. I guess here too they do that: credit check and criminal check and drug check...

But for the clearances, they have to check every thing about you for the last 10 years or start from 18yrs and up.

where do you search for these positions?

Craigslist

Also, you should go to the government contracts websites such as SAIC, CACI, AECOM, General Dynamics.

I met many americans who did the two year arabic program at uni of MD, grad program. Most of these graduates find jobs working for the pentagon and state dep. Check there and see if you can find any links.
