Egypt disseminating Arab culture in Somalia

"The Bibliotheca Alexandrina announced that Somalia is receiving the first batch of Arabic publications to support its national library and the University of Mogadishu library during an upcoming book fair, as part of a joint Egyptian-Arab campaign.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair is slated for March, and 130 publishing houses from 12 different countries are expected to participate.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina said in a statement Sunday that it is disseminating Arab culture in Somalia to contribute to its education and scientific research efforts, with 500 titles of its own publication.
The statement welcomed Arab cultural institutions that have announced their participation in the campaign, which aims to enrich the two libraries with 50,000 titles, which would be the largest number of books donated to an Arab country."

I always support the spread and sharing of knowledge and books but I do question the motives behind this. I wouldn't mind Somalia further establishing strong ties with other nations but why must we be considered an "Arab country" and I dislike the idea that this may be used to further Arabicize Somalia.

We need to make an ally of Egypt since they are one of the biggest power holders in Africa otherwise Ethiopia and Kenya will continue to exploit us.

Fuck that, Somalis should play their cards right and get their act together, that doesnt mean that we have to ally ourselves with nijaas that screwed us over before and to think they wont do it again is just stupidity. How exactly would this be a bad thing? If England donated or made such an effort then it would not be an issue. But the problem is Arab nations. Latin is not your original script nor related to you in any way or form yet we never hear you when any college or school is opened. Somalis screwed themselves, if you are unwilling to wear padding or play rough in a game of rugby then get off the pitch, if you wont/cant then you will be crushed by any move you make and you even your teamplayers will end up hurting you because you are weak. Same for Somalia. Belong somewhere and ally yourslelf then talk.

Emotions in politics don't really play a part though, it's all foreign policy. There is no country who is friend by emotion but we need an ally otherwise we're basically screwed.

Fact: the Somali language was changed to Latin script in 1972
Fact: before that we used Arabic.
Fact: We are more influenced by Arab culture then any other one.
Fact: We need any type of beneficial literature we can get our hands on
