Uthman bin Caffaan didnt compile the musxaf.

In the time of Abu Bakr RA , loads of haafidhs were dying in wars, so he gave Zayd Ibn Thabit the yask of compiling the musxaf.

In the time of Uthman RA the muslim empire was expanding, and ppl were speaking different dialects of arabic. so some ppl were reciting the Qur'aan wrong. So Uthman RA ordered a true copy to be made and copied. then it was, distributed to different parts of the empire.

Exactly he (Uthman) codified the Qureshi dialect as the standard dialect that Quran had to be written in

Another interesting story I picked up is that a couple of centuries after Uthman put the quraan in the current
order and standardised the writing, people got worried that even though it was written it'll diverge in pronounciation/recitation.

So fatha kisra duma was invented for this purpose, Uthman quraan had no fatha kisra duma.
they got togather 7 people, they were told to recite the quraan, it had to match uthman quraan.
and 2 people wrote down and added the vowels to the quraan for each recitation by the 7 people.

And thats why we have the 7 qira'ats today, almost exactly the same bar a few differences in pronounciation.
The quraan today is not only written but how to recite is also recorded within it, which was not always the case.

The recitation and written word conserved for all time :dj:
