From what I got from the two blog posts is a long tirade on appearance. Either the shaykhs don't have big enough beards, turbans, and Khamiiso, or the great menace of segregation is not being implemented.
Well let me tell you something, this is American, scratch that Western Islam. 99999.99999% of the time you are in some proximity with the opposite sex, whether it be school, work, or just in the streets. This is the simple reality we live in, which in some countries it may not be prevalent because of those cultural norms. The real test of ones Islam is how they reacts with the opposite sex when they are in proximity. These people who hearken back into an age of gender segregation have lost that war long before they knew there was one.
As for the garb, that is a matter of culture. You do not measure someones learning, status by the size of their beards.
