Shameless Pleasures

I've noticed that as the years roll by, things that would induce guilt or embarrassment a couple years back don't even faze me now. I don't know whether it's because of age or just blatant disregard for social norms. Thus, I would like to know if any of your guilty pleasures have converted into shameless pleasures. These are activities you engage in, things you say, types of movies or music you enjoy/listen to, and anything else you use to conceal from family, friends, and/or the general public that you now flaunt shamelessly.

I think Society do change and we change with them, besides as Somali do say "Deriskaa kuma cadeeyo kuma na madoobeeyo ee sow yahay ayuu ka dhigaa", so what you thought yesterday unacceptable if you see other people doing it on daily basis acting as it normal after a while you will accept it.

Hitting on Somali girls. For some reason that was a no-go zone for me around other Somalis but I enter the fray with no regard for who is around now. I didn't grow up with a lot of Somali females in school and in my area etc so I wasn't used to it. All of that changed with trips to areas more populated with Somalis and nobody gives a shit about anything.

I'm not talking about the evolution of society and social sanctions though. Guilty pleasures are things that you enjoy but are embarrassed/guilty of while/after doing it. Waxaan ku leeyahay berigi waxaan ka faani jirey ayaan maanta sameeya.

Da' weyn iyo xishood la'aan.
For me it's eye candy, the impropriety of engaging eye contact with a good looking guy and then smiling. It was never a guilty pleasure just guilt for even noticing or getting noticed while noticing

This shows the effect of living in the West too long, if you sin without regard then you should check your eeman and your taqwaah.

Lilaahiya its a confidence thing, you're more confident in your choices/preferences/tastes. Age brings a certain surety of self.

Years ago, maybe 2004- 2008, I think i wasn't open before about visiting online forums. In my mind people might confuse the chat rooms with discussion forums. I don't like chat rooms because weirdos try to contact you, so I don't want to be associated with chat rooms.
In my earlier years I also didn't manage my time well with forums.
Now I comfortable to I tell people that I visit somali forums, muslim & islamic forums, my local city forum, graphic design forums, photography forums, personal care forums, videography forum etc. I am comfortable sharing this now because I manage my time better, discuss and read things that interest me.
I post sometimes but read mostly. Somailnet is one of the first places I visit. But I wouldn't exactly advertise that though.
Off topic-- I really wish I was a reader of real books, like history, politics, science and I consumed my time that way.
Lillaahiya did I understand your post?
