I got some relatives in Maryland. Had couple of chances to go there but never did. I like my city and wouldn't go anywhere else except back home.

Debating moving to the DMV for work. Love the city, but don't love the cost. A question to those who live there.... Which suburbs do the Somalis live in. Richmond, Fredericksburg? Is there any type of suburban somali community?? Hoping to move family with me so I can have them close by. Thanks

Richmond is 2 hours from DC :pac:

Fredericksburg is also far out

Most Somalis live in Fairfax, Falls Church, Arlington, and Alexanderia.

The richer ones live out in McLean, Manassas, Chantily... Even out towards Reston (Dulles Airport area), Leesburg, and Ashburn.

If you're a young guy, move to Arlington or Alexandria... You can find affordable rents. If you trying to find a house, better look outside the Beltway (I-495).

PG County, Maryland also has some affordable spots

Saaxib, Stay out in Maryland. Few Somalis, cheaper rents and you can remain anonymous unlike Virginia. As a newbie, you will be found out and can't enjoy the city in peace. DC is a great city for a single guy !

If you are looking for Somali interaction, then stay in Arlington, Alexandria. However, be warned that the sisters out here are top of their game. Shid, even AW had to proceed with caution and tactful retreat from some.

In PG County, Maryland: check out Laurel, Greenbelt, Bowie, Lanham, Hyattsville (new areas), New Carrolton

Somalis live in Riverdale, Maryland... and if you venture out to Montgomery County, Maryland you will find some in the city of Silver Spring and its surroundings. Ethiopians are by far the majority in this area in terms of East Africans.

the Blessed state of Virginia

. to any somali out there thinking of relocating for the States , Virginia and California is the place to be .
Stay away from the cesspool called Minnesota . Seattle is a nice place to stay too .

UMES... Morgan has STDs everywhere... I think you can get one just by breathing the air on that campus.

UMES is a bit of hick country since its on the other side of the shore though...
