Wallahi, I just cannot hide my frustration and envy of these people. These kids were given the golden life. They are told to “discover” themselves with the full backing of their parents regardless of their career choice and life decisions majority of the time. They talk about traveling like it is a normal pastime. The amount of 18-24 I know who have traveled to 5 or more countries by themselves are mind blowing.

Was talking to 19 lad who is about to travel Spain for 2 months by himself. And here I am 23 and haven’t travelled yet.

You sound like you are unhappy at life. No doubt some people have life easier than others but you should learn to look at those that are less fortunate than you. Truly then you will find some peace within yourself. Secondly, you need to let go of your need for ease in life. Granted that this may seem like a moot point to your seemingly lazy self, but experiences such as saving for your first car, holidays and first homes are made even more special due to the blood, sweat and tears spent in the many hours of hard work.

Thirdly, you should remember that envy is a deadly sin that devours your good deeds. I really hope you do take into account my two cent worth and do decide to get a job and make some meaningful contribution to society.

Undoubtedly, our history is a liability. We cannot compete with our peers... but with a good education, hardwork and having a goal in life, will certainly help us to catch up. When I went to university, I couldn't afford many of the things my fellow students did but that just increased my determination to catch up.

I recall I conversation that I had with a classmate in which I claimed that my history is a liability; he said " I can see you one day becoming successful and surpassing us...That was a driving force.

So, don't despair son. Get a good education, work hard and you will be rewarded. You will one day realise that you are better than your "rich white friends" .

It's all relative really. A lot of these students use student loans with interest to go over seas and volunteer etc. We all have priorities in life.

If you keep comparing yourself with people you do not have the same background in terms of religion, culture, and outlook on life, then you are bound to want to do a lot of "thinking".

When I was 23, I had already 2 children, travelled to England, Sweden, Australia and Switzerland. Of course, after 23-- I travelled many other 8 counties. I think u lack self confidence. And stop comparing yourself to rich white kids--it will be of no avail. These people are well taken cared of by their parents. Where in Switzerland did you stay ?

I have been to 6 countries in Europe, no visa stamp on my passport though I have not traveled to any new place since age of 19. I don't think its a big deal to travel, since I was kid we traveled every holiday, if not to a different country at least to different town, you don't need to be affluent to enjoy life and explore the world.
