But I totally get where you're coming from.i don't look down on it, but just not bothered putting personal stuff on a dating site, I have never used a dating site before and don't intend to either, but I have meet with people from the online world before, mainly fb though, I use to have a rule not to ever do it before, still do in some ways but less strict as I got older/bigger and less fearful for my safety, generally I prefer real world, online chicks are too much hassle.

Further, I seek clarification with daleel on your justification for attempting to "add" non-mahram females on facebook. Allow me to be completely clear here - adding non-mahram member of the different gender on any social networking website is haram in our deen. Attempting any form of casual and unnecessary communication that is not done for strict and absolutely necessary business is strictly forbidden. These women ignore you, presumably, because they are aware of this. If you wish to speak with or come to know any non-mahram female, you must go through her wali and make arrangements where he is present. We cannot choose what is convenient for us to follow and reject what is not, resorting to our own nafs when it suits us. Our deen is a total system, a complete way of life.I have been adding girls who wear niqaab and post a lot of Islamic lectures and Islamic Videos to my facebook. They never respond back but I won't mind talking to one of those wadaad ones online.
