Why is it that they usually speak terrible english (pronounciation and accent wise) even those that have been here 30 years

Whereas Somali Brits will speak good English and seem to have a good command of the language & have a British sounding accent.

I'm not an American Somali, but from what I've observed, they tend to believe themselves to be African-American and speak a ghetto version of the English language.

Even if they did speak with a proper American accent, you still can't take an American accent seriously. Lol.

The ones who follow the Blacks do maybe? Even white kids sound like that. But most Somalis sound like everyone else: British.

my canadian cousins speak normal, my USa cousin speak like they are from Atlanta, they dress differently too, Somalis in UK do not speak normal, majority of them speak slang, the educated ones mostly european Somalis from scandinavia speak normal.

Somalis from those northern countries seem to also have better fashion.

Adali, the slang here is superficial. If their talking to a teacher or someone like that, they can easily control it. Unlike in America, the ghetto talk is uncontrollable. P.s the Somalis in Scandinavia don't really have a choice since their languages have no slang alternative. Also, there are a lot of us in the UK who can speak better English than English people, actually, you'll even find English people insulting others for sounding "too posh".

you mean the chavs, majority of them are of irish descend but that is beside the point, haye carry on, I can see you extremely proud of your poshness.

Well, I don't personally know any chavs, but in my school which is considered a 'toff' school people still tell me my accent is too posh for them.
