When Mad Mac proclaims that the “end doesn’t always justify the means’, what he doesn’t understand is that our heroes like Sayid Abdulle and Ahmed Gurey were some of the first Somali heroes to basically tell us who we are, where we live in this world, what is our identity and so on. There was no Somali history before that!
Those who say Sayid Abdulle was for the fame and prominence, there were well-known poems about this and what his intentions were:
1. Doodan waxaan u leeyahay dumarkiyo caruurtoo
2. Dadkii idinka waynaa hadday idin duleeyeen
3.Dambi kama ay yaabine cuntay idinka doorteen
4. Duunyaa la dhaafsaday dugsigaad galeeyseen
5.Dameerkuna ma yeelen halkay talo ku daysteen
6.Dab intay shideen bay dalaq idinku siiyeen
7.Doox intay qodeen bay ciid idinku daadsheen
8. Nin idiin damqanayaa idinkama dambeeyee
9. Hadaydaan digtoonaan daad bay idin qaadiye
10.Duleedada kufaartaa dacas idinku laynoo
11.Naf dalkaaga doonaysaa firaash looma daadshee
12.Dabkan aan shidaayaa daawadiina weeyee
13.Dariiqii rasuulkiyo dawga ha ka baydhina
Like Founding Fathers of America who singed the American Constitution, Sayid Maxamed Abdulla Hasan is one of our Founding Fathers. Yes there were civilians who were cought in the middle, but who was to blame? The white men who came all the way to Africa to colonize us or the freedom fighter that stood up to him and told him that this is our land.
