People fought and died for our independence. The failures of the generations that came after them shouldn't tarnish the hard-work of those that initially helped us get our independence.

God Bless them, they did their people and nation proud. :som:
That's admirable thing to say, but you do realize you're in Snet right? Why would you waste such beautiful words in this hell hole?

We are in a horrible place if people are questioning the importance of July 1st.

Yeah well we live in a sick world, sadly people associate July 1st with all the shit that came after the independence and pretty much see July 1st supporters as hypocrites, hell some might even assume you support all the killings, bombings, and qabyaalad that happened after the independence. It's crazy right? Well that's Somalis for you. Just accept the fact that the people who fought for our independence and their hard work is overshadowed by the shit that came after them, just accept it, resistance is futile.

Guys am not saying we shouldnt celebrate july 1st because of our actions in the last 20 or so years. Am saying 17 other African countries that were colonized gained independent. They didn't do nothing but demonstrate and play the victim card like we did. Yes there were a few fights and resistance but that wasnt enough to shake the colonizers foundation and threaten their stay!!!!! If we did what Vietnam where we bravely fought and made the colonizers run with their tail between their legs i would celebrate wildly wallahi. The fact is they colonizers left on their own accord and they werent chased. I cant be proud of that sorry

1st July is a link up for youtes, miirqaan excuse for the faraxs and bragging rights for the elders.

I do, I just keep it to myself, I have nothing against the people, I just don't give a fuck about ANY Autonomous State. But fine, here is what I think, horrible injustice happened to the people, and they decided they will never let that happen again and stand on their own. Every nation went through inner conflicts and Somalia was no different. Every family in every tribe suffered in way or another because of the civil war, but more so the people of Hargiesa than other other Somalis. But is the succession of Somaliland the answer? Well it's what they want and like I said it's not my place to say otherwise. As much as I hate to say this but the truth is it's not like Somalis will ever unite anyways, so I say fuck it, let every region have their own f-king country. That being said, fuck ALL Autonomous States.

You're welcome.

i was hinting at their institutional and governmental functioning in contrast to the rest. and you took it the wrong way
I am actually with you on this though any attempt at digging up old wounds is basically fruitless, people need to move on
we were all oppressed by one single power hungry dictator and injustice was felt through out Somalia so on that Note i agree.
its just that the whole election amazed me and iam always curious about what fellow brothers from other regions though of it.
