For the most part, Somalis here are half-negrified and/or half-arabized.
Then there's the group who have abandoned any semblance of Somalinimo. This group tends to believe anything even remotely associated with Somalis is inherently primitive and will often deny their Somaliness. They tend to have immutable preconceptions of Somalinimo and often believe Somalis are a "lost cause", doomed to eternal failure. This group can also include those who've taken the Hitchens et al. route, associating Islam with the chaos in Somalia.
Then there's the group who desperately cling to the outmoded traditions and destructive myths that have reduced Somalia to its present state. They think that by engaging in futile discussions about semi-legendary clan patriarchs in local coffee shops (or internet forums...), they can somehow preserve "authentic" Somali culture. Any attempts at questioning the logic behind believing in debunked myths and perpetuating the same lies that have ironically forced them to seek refuge in the west will be invariably met with accusations of pretentiousness or the always lol-worthy questioning of your religious beliefs.
I don't understand the "negrified" or "arbized" groups as you call them. Blacks in the west are haplessly lost & don't know if they are coming or going...The majority of them lack any moral compass & are the product of illegitimate births. To emulate blacks is to trample on your own dignity & throw morals to the wind. As for the Arabs they are some what above the "Western Negros" but they have a deep seeded hatred of Africans. Infact the Arab slave trade was in many ways more brutal then the western slave trade, castration killed countless young African men. Also Arab culture is backwards clannish, & barbaric even in the 21's century. To emulate them is a step back into the primordial beginnings of mankind.
The disenchanted group that has all but given up on "Somalinmio" I can some what sympathize with them as many have transcended the mind set of tribalism & have ran out of patience with the last group. The ones who are content being stuck in that past & refuse to move on & let bye gones be bye gones & build a better tomorrow for future generations. This group gives off an air of arrogance & indifference and could careless if they hold everyone else hostage!! They are in many ways responsible for many of the youth in the west going astray due to their inflated ego's & direct or indirect continuation of the on going civil strife in Somalia. The vocal religious orthodox with flawed Wahhabi ideology have compounded an already terrible situation with the Al shaaba fiasco. We are at the cross roads of no return were we will have extreme opposing ideological camps without any "secular" or "moderates" to bridge the gap.
