Keyblade, there was one semester I took Malay class. It wasn't compulsory, I just took it coz I was short of one module that semester and I didn't wanna take an other module from the following semester. Plus it was fun. I was the only African in that class. I hardly attended it. The lecturer was a nice Malay lady from Sarawak. She gave us mainly beginners lessons and the exam was easy with the help of some tips she gave us (few foreigners).

Do you get tips as foreigner though?

Majority of Somalis are there for studying. What makes you think they go there to get US green card? :?

Oh you live in Malaysia too? Nice.

Actually the Malay classes are kinda fun. They're sort of like Arts and Crafts-lite . I had to make a freakin' birthday card as my final assignment for example  (I ended up making a Valentine's card instead cuz hearts are easier to cut than cakes, don't judge  ).

Tips as a foreigner? I unno, foreigners take a different class than local students so I guess our course is easier slightly.

looooool @ Valentine's card. You guys have fun. Seriously my assignment was to prepare Nasi Lemak, imagine that? She gave out the ingredients and she expected us to bring it to class and exchange with the classmates, and that was supposed to be our breakfast for the day. I don't eat spicy food though, so I excused myself saying I never eat break fast  The weird thing was she could differentiate between the home made one and the one sold in the streets early morning. I got busted coz I bought it. How did she expect me to make a Malay dish? lol!

Well I used to live there and left in 2010.

Good luck again. :)

True. As well as in China. There are tons of Somalis there studying Medicine. It's like a trend, especially where I live.

My sister did her A-Levels there. Awful school. Only about 10 minutes from where I live though.
