It's not criminal case it's just civil lawsuit. The defendant is only demanding compensation for damages that may have been caused by plaintiff. If the plaintiff is dead broke, then the court can't force the plaintiff to pay up. In the future if the plaintiff gets rich then it's another matter.

Nope, any assets he owns will be subject to seize. It will make him uncomfortable in the USA and other jurisdictions where the ruling may apply. Its symbolic but a great step. Now to bankrupt the other NSS colonel who owns a nice house in the East Coast and has portrayed himself as a "wadaad".

Abdiwahab, i take it you are not from the states? He can easily transfer his house to his son and he's safe. OJ Simpson was ordered to pay 34 million and he didn't pay a dime even though he had all the money in the world

Who is he and who is the guy that sued him? I support any lawsuit against criminals regardless of their clan, region and political association. We need to lock all of them up.

The defendant works for the President as an adviser (that's what the article claims at least, never heard of him before), the victim does not.

Read it again, last line says Ahmed works as an advisor for the President. Defendant's last name is Magan.

Saaxib, the Colonel has a civil judgement against him. We know he does not have $15million to pay. However, any assets he has are at risk. He has to watch his back and ensure that he complies with the order.

The point of the lawsuit is that he has been held liable for his past actions and to attach some punishment to it.

All in all, the Colonel's life has experienced a significant change just like the victim's life did so in the 80s. I welcome this lawsuit because it holds officials accountable for their past actions.

Somaliland Hypocracy is going wild again. The head of the NSS whom Megan worked for was headed by the Former President of Somaliland Riyaale Kaahin. That tells you exactly is not about who did what but who belongs to what clan. How can you leave the CEO and go after the Front desk Secretary.
