The Horn of Africa people are not mixed. There is this misconception that people from the horn are mixed with Yemenis/South Arabians. While it's true mixing does take place from time to time, especially among communities that interact economically, the original phenotype of the people, however, is unique to the region and did not need mixing to develop. In other words, we would still look the same even if there were no South Arabians or whites around us.
And if you're wondering why most Eritreans speak a Semitic language, wonder no more. Keep in mind, the Semetic language is an African language. It belongs to the Afro-Asatic family branch. Its origins are the HoA and later developed in South Arabia (Yemen), before entering Eritrea again. And no, you do not need to be mixed or colonized to adopt another language. People adopt different languages for a number of reasons, usually it's for economic benefits.
Here's Professor Peter R. Schmidt touching up on the subject of culture and language transfusion:
"Pre-Aksumite" incorporation of such elements may have taken place over many generations rather than being the products of a limited number of South Arabian colonization or migration events, nor do they signify a dominant vs. subordinate or core vs. periphery relationship between polities. Elites of peer polities or co-evolving polities of relative parity in sociopolitical development and economy may actively appropriate symbols and objects from one another for use in internal legitimization. This is a view of active engagement and critical selection from a diverse repertoire of elements in the southern Red Sea cultural milieu, not a passive incorporation from colonizing populations; it is a perspective that promotes "Pre-Aksumite" agency and creates a more dynamic picture of cultural transformation in the 1st millennium BCE.[2]
The Tigrinya and Tigre people of Eritrea, who make up 85% of the population, were once the descendants of Beja people. Because of cold and warm climate of the highlands and the foods they ate, they adopted a slightly different phenotype from their ancestors.

So let's stop the inferiority complex. We (as in the Horn of Africa people) are not mixed. This is our God-given phenotype that was created due to our ancestors' adaption to a mostly highland horn region, where all the Cushtic and Semitic speaking people originate from, including the Somalis.
