Twin explosions rock Tripoli, Lebanon

Post by LetsCookBreakfast »

27 killed, more than 350 injured in twin explosions in Tripoli, Lebanon

Two simultaneous explosions have rocked the Lebanese city of Tripoli, killing up to 27 people and injuring 358.

One of the blasts is said to have rocked the area near the home of outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati, while the other hit the Salam Mosque in Mina, Naharnet reports. The Lebanese Health Ministry has said 27 were killed and 358 injured in the two blasts.

The area was cordoned off and ambulances rushed to the sites of explosions. Local TV footage and pictures from the scene showed buildings with their fronts damaged and vehicles ablaze. The blast outside the Salam Mosque left a crater measuring five meters wide and 2.5 meters deep, according to local LBCI News.

Miqati has cut short his family vacation to return to Lebanon.

No one has claimed responsibility for the explosions so far.

Former chief of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces Ashraf Rifi has called the blasts an attempt to ethnically divide Lebanon. Speaking to local MTV, he said that it is too soon to tell if the explosion was caused by a bomb or a booby-trapped car, Naharnet cited an independent media channel as reporting.
I'm not sure who's behind this. It's either retaliation from hezbushaytan or Israeli attempting to instigate a civil war in Lebanon. We will soon discover who the perpetrators are.

Tripoli is a Sunni stronghold, so it might have been the Shia forces, if not Salafists trying to create discord between the two communities. Most of the Lebanese Alawites live in Tripoli as well.

I don't think Sunnis were behind this. It was either retaliation from Hezbollah for the previous bomb that went off in a Shia temple or Israeli is trying to instigate another civil war in Lebanon.

Why does it have to be Shia or Sunni?

Who else would it be besides the yahuud? Surely, the Maronites are incapable of such a bold act.

Because they are at war with each other in the rest of the middle east (Syria, Iraq, Bahrain, etc, etc). You should read the Saudi papers. They are more anti-Shia than they are anti-Israel. There is a silent agreement between the Sunnis and the Jews as far as foreign policy is concerned. They want to balance the growing might of the Shias in the region.

Hezbullah wouldn't attack their own homeland, you mistake them for the khaarijeen in Afghanistan , Somalia and Iraq who kill Muslims. Hezbullah karbashes the yahuud for fun, something the sunni's refrain from doing.
