Israel once a desert country now feeding Europe with food

Postby Tanker » Mon Aug 26, 2013 5:12 pm

Israel exports mainly to the EU and Russia. The export to EU countries accounts for about 67% of Israeli agricultural exports (about $961 million), about 16% of agricultural exports goes to Russia (about $226 million), 5% to the United States (about $72 million) and 12% to other countries (about $172 million).

Compared with 2011 – the value of citrus export increased by 22.6% from $152 million to $187 million. Fruits export (excluding citrus) increased by 13% from $273 million to $308 million and the cotton export value increased by 11.2% - from $34 million to $38 million.

The reputation is warranted.
Isrealis were the ones to introduce drip irrigation amongst other innovations,
but this should not refelct badly on palestinians.
Till 1948 the palestinians had the best land and they were among the most agriculturally productive regions in the world, palestinians were well educated and their agriculture was more modern than egyptians and turks for example.
They sold the worst land to those starving jews from russia/poland, with the lowest fertility, and water resources.
Tel aviv for example was all sand dunes when it was founded and had no water,
palestinians made a killing of feeding the jews who for a brief 20 years survived on funds from the diaspora to keep the settlements alive.

fast forward to 1948 and the jews captured the best agricultural land, and introduced the latest techniques just being introduced in the world and you get the myth of maing the deserts bloom.
