SNTV- Somali National Televison (Current)
- The name SNTV is unambitious, not unique and not well thought off
- It can be mistaken very easily for televison channels like the Sports News Television.
- There are 32 other nations whose first letter starts with S so it isn't like we are the only one
- It is far too similar to televison networks like SLNTV and overal its just isnt unique!
- The words somali, national and television arent somali but english.
TQS- Telefishinka qaranka soomaaliyeed (Proposed)
This channel can be our exclusive CNN or BBC after a period of time.
- The words, telefishinka, qaranka and soomaaliyeed are all somali words
- It is much uniquer than SNTV and its much easier to build its profile
- There are ony 3 letters T,Q and S like CNN or the BBC, and so its simpler and is easier for the tongue
- Current journalists say something in the lines of this 'ku soo dhawoow telefishinka qaranka soomaliyeed SNTV' so it makes sense to call it TQS because it is simple abbrevation of telefishinka qaranka soomaaliyeed. However the journalists are kind of tranlating SNTV to telefishinka qaranka soomaaliyeed which is pointless.
My only worries will be the somali pronounciation of TQS but it will be okay, i hope. I know that somalilanders can pretend it is the telefishinka qaranka somaliland but it can be used as a tool to unite the somalilanders with the somalis. Obviously on the TQS channel it will clearly show that it is the telefishinka qaranka soomaaliyeed not the telefishinka qaranka somaliland.
Current SNTV logo

My thoughts on the logo is thats poorly made.
What logo has an image of the world map? Answer that im being serious! All it does is that it just makes it more harder for the eye.
The text underneath you can barely read when its on TV, whats the point of it even being there? Its pointless and stupid!
The star above the T, I believe that they tried very hard to include the star on the logo but they've failed. The logo itslef is hideous and by adding a star it wont make things look better!
The shape of the logo is some kind of edited rotated circle and it looks stupid. I would have thought that a logo that look like that should atleast be on the top left corner of channel but no! They placed the logo unprofessionaly on the bottom left corner. I liked that they tried to combine the 2 national colours but it stops there. I havent even started talking about the tube like writing which doesnt look modern in its slightest. As you can see on the logo, the people who were in charged of making the logo succeeded in joining the letters NTV but they couldnt make ends meet with the S, so they eventualy moved the letter S very close to the letter N; making us thing that the 4 letters united but they didnt!
Overall a very poorly constructed logo and poorly located.
Proposed TQS logo

[The background wont obviously be white, there will be no background colour]
I created that logo in 10 minutes with only using Paint.NET and I'd say it is better than the curent logo. You decide which one is better.
I think if TQS will be broadcasted it should make major adjiustments.
TQS will be broadcasted all over the country and it will be the main channel that everyone wll watch. I would want to see TQS being broadcasted also all over including Djibouti, NFD Kenya and maybe Somali galbeed. TQS should use the best camera equipment and the channel view quality should be modern and it should be HD.
All journalist that would work for TQS should all be highly experienced and professional and likeable. Maybe TQS can steal well performing journalist from other media outlets like HCTV or UIniversal Tv. The viewers will want to see controlled good looking journalist not 70 year olds. For politcal reasons TQS should employ many men and women from Waqooyi Galbeed or Awdal who have a distinctive northen accent; just so to make them feel like they are being included.
I have a few ways to boost ratings to TQS
- Broadcast somali soaps; you dont not understand how much somali women like soaps, stupid storylines and gossip. There was this crap program Nuura which was arabian or asian and the only thing they did was add voice overs; unbelievable my own mum was watching it like it was the olympics.
- Showcast comedy programs; my ideas include flying a harbaadi somali man alll over the world with a camera crew to show all his reactions. it will be hillarious and it'll boost ratings.
- Interviews with famous somalis
- Showing exclusive footage of somali cities like Mogadishu
What I also dont like is the SNTV theme, its obviously been borrowed and isnt unique. Maybe for the TQS channel the theme might incude cameras zooming into a nomad boy writing TQS very big on some kind of board and the cameras should zoom back out and then it will proceed to the channel timetable and showing whats coming on.
TQS studios will be in Mogadishu and Hargeisa.
