Liar, liar

My full Vietnamese friend in year 7 was probably one of the biggest liars I had come across. She would lie about anything and everything, like the time she had said she was going overseas and this girl bumped into her at the local corner shop, among many other things. Her biggest lie was trying convince the class she was quarter Asian/French Canadian/Irish and some other mix. We all knew she was full of shit but she was one of the more popular girls in our year level, aside from that she was quite down-to-earth and drama free unlike some of my other peers so I guess I just tolerated her bullshit.

She stuck a picture of some blonde haired model that was cut from a magazine in her school diary on a specific date with the words "Mum's birthday" passing off this Caucasian woman as her mother. Randomly, while walking home one day from school with one of my other friends in a different class, we decided to make a detour to this corner store and purchase magazines. I wasn't really a magazine person but decided to buy it that day (cost me like $5.99, I could think of better things to purchase my pocket money with). Anyways, trying to get my money's worth I must have read that entire magazine from cover to cover. I observed every insignificant picture till I came across a small picture of some familiar blonde haired model. I stared at it for awhile not quite sure it was the same woman. I cut the picture out and took it to school with me the next day. I asked my friend if I could look at her diary, (nothing major we always use to write stuff in each others' diaries). I flicked to the page and my suspicions were confirmed. It was the same woman, same picture and some pose! I had to play it smart, I liked my friend but I hated her lies.

I ended up letting the guy with the biggest mouth in the class know about my discovery. I figured he would have no problems confronting her, she would get busted (not suspect it was me) and her bullshit stories would stop (I know pretty bitchy move, give me a break I was 12). When I showed him he couldn't believe it. For an entire period of Math class me and this guy were beside ourselves laughing our heads off.

Next period, Justin the loud mouth asks her if he can look at her diary. She allows it and he opens up her diary to the date of her mother's birthday, he opens up his own diary to the same date, he had stuck the magazine cut out I had given him and asked her with a very serious face "Yen, so how did the picture of my mum get into your diary?" Miskeenta didn't talk for the entire day. Many years later, I confessed to her about this and jacda iga dhacday, she had told me she had always known it was me. :)

Do you guys have any stories?

Unless it's painfully obvious, I give people the benefit of the doubt. I've been called naive/gullible numerous times as well  I think it's because most times I don't really care to know if you're actually telling the truth. When I find out someone's lying to me, I rarely let them know I clocked on. I live by the saying 'arag oo dhaaf'.

A couple months ago, a girl I know (I'll call her Sara) and I were suppose to go out one Saturday afternoon. That Friday night she asked me to scoop her at 3pm-ish and I agreed. Saturday morning I get a text msg from her saying she has mad cramps and can't get out of bed. Later into the day, I reached out to a friend (I'll call her Muna) to make some last minute plans and she told me she couldn't make it because she's going to Sara's bridal shower  Later on that night Muna calls me peeved cause Sara told her to pick her up and drive her to the bridal shower place and that she was ready but her original ride flopped. Muna rolls up to the base and Sara just got out of the shower and told Muna to come back after an hour  Waan ka quustay but I'm civil. Waan salaamay markaan arko and what not but def see her differently.

Another close friend of mine use to constantly lie about what she was doing/her whereabouts because she was seeing a guy. Beenteeda ayaan ka dhargay sidday igu gurisay. I found out she'd be jump tossing because our mutual friend would let me know that she's kawaaling me. After a while I just stopped asking her anything. The crazy thing is she's the type of person who asks you a dozen questions (i.e. What were you doing? who were you with? Where did you go? What's so and so saying? What time did you dip? etc) and if something doesn't add up, she'll straight up say you're lying to me

When I was in high school I worked at a gas station every weekend. I would tell my friends things that would happen while at work. One day I was talking to this indoyar guy in my class and he mention my other friend named Sophie told him that she's tired because she worked a late shift at the gas station, as well as tell few of my stories. At first, I was like cool she works at a gas station too but as I continued speaking with him I began to realize sophie was passing off my job and stories as her own. I later learned, this friend tended to make up a lot of things. Lakin Alhamdulillah 13 years of friendship now, I can happily say she has stopped her pathologically lying ways.

^ Wa waxaan la yaabay. First girl could've said she's busy w/ some and the other one could've explained she's posted w/ her man. Simple.

 I actually sometimes encourage those folks to see how creative they can get.

I had one person who, regardless of what or i did/said,hers was bigger and better or vice versa. If i had a migraine, her head had exploded days ago.

I just listen and laugh. Now,i dont hesitate to lie abt not being available to do anything together.

I never made her feel like i was on to her.I really dont care.

Always makes me wonder why bother with lies when u dont have to.I understand sparing someone`s feelings.

Lilly, what I didn't get is why she said yes the night before, and then canceled on you? A. Did she mean to cancel from the get-go, which if true, leads me to wonder what her motive was, and B. why didn't she want you to go to the bridal shower, or just tell you that she is going to go there and change of plans? So many questions.

PO, Lil should have gone to the bridal shower and crash the scene with a box of flowers and chocolate or something (in movies it seems this always works), make the girl feel like a right wallop. Lil, that is what i'd call sassy. ;)

Inasamaale, i won't address you if you keep using the same smilie. Innovate something for Gods sake.

That's exactly what got me :lupe: She's obviously been planning this party for a minute but deliberately made plans with me, kept the act going until the morning of and then came up with a bomb excuse that I'd never question  Hence why I think she's conniving and keep things on a hi-bye basis.

Marques: Never. I'm not one to get salty and make a scene
