The moral of the story is this.

The fisherman was unwise, selfish SOB. Not only did you turn a chance to improve his lot but that of his fellow man. By accepting and implementing the Harvan man's suggestions he would have have died richer man. Meaning, he could retire early and work less as his body neared its shelf-life. With more money at this disposal, he can afford luxuries unattainable otherwise, leave wealth and property behind for his progeny. With bigger business, he could afford to hire workers, helping reduce the unemployment of his community. These workers, with money in their pockets, can spend on what they need to improve their lives. This in turn helps the local economy...more tax money for the local authorities to finance public projects, more ppl able to spend, overall good news for local business. From his competitors, his expansion would have been the impetus to improve their output...they too would have to follow suit and grow into larger businesses. Hiring more ppl, more ppl with jobs means more money in local economy...everyone benefits.
