Cushitic come in.

So I been watching Luther, and it isn't a bad show. I couldn't help but notice that it was a new twist on the Sherlock Holmes template. Knowing that you probably finished the series, I'd like to return the favor and recommend one to you. Have you ever seen the new British version of Sherlock Holmes? It is a modern adaption on the old series, with a very interesting story line, a young Sherlock Holmes, and great actors (I particularly love Moriarty whom I had hated at first, but now I think is absolutely Brilliant!!!). I know you will like the fact that the star of the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins plays Sherlocks sidekick Mr. Watson. It is a short series of only about three 90-minute episodes of 2 series with the third one coming out in 2014. I don't know how they can top off the second series, but hats off to them, and the better for me if they do.

Best part is that it is on Netflix! If you have it.

:-O I'm glad you like it! I guess the same could be said of any story where the main character is a detective. Luther is inspired by both Holmes and Columbo - Creator Neil Cross has said that Luther is influenced by both Sherlock Holmes and Columbo; the nature of Luther's intellect and its application to solving crimes is comparable to Holmes', whereas the show's use of the inverted detective format was inspired by Columbo. But I think that Elba brings something original to the role that I can't see him as being similar to either Holmes or Columbo - he has his own edge and brings a unique intrigue to the role.

While the actor playing Watson is amazing in my opinion, I find Benedict Cumberbatch annoying. :| I don't know why. lol (Fun fact: Did you know he plays The Necromancer in the Hobbit films?) Also, I have an aversion to watching television shows that lack a black main character but because you gave the show such a glowing recommendation I will try it, thanks.

Oh come off it, your only saying that about Benny because I said something about Elba. lol
For me, this show was totally random, and I hadn't known Benny until this show, even though I had seen him in other movies playing secondary roles. Like in Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy; Star Trek. If you don't focus so much on how much you dislike him, because he is meant to be annoying, arrogant, and extremely intelligent in the show. Then you might just like him, just know it gets better as the series goes on. lol

lool I actually wasn't being spiteful because of your (totally unmerited) comment about Elba. Maybe I just recognized the shadow of an ancient horror? Jokes aside, I will try not to wish Sherlock to die and Watson to take over in every episode.
