I think Child Development and Sociology is very important in today's Somali society...there is nothing wrong with that.
Political Science...now that something I don't understand. There is nothing science about politics....it's all about community dynamics and how well you understand the people you trying to govern. Besides, learning political science or law for that matter in the western world ain't gonna work in Africa...what is the point.[/quote]
Actually I have to disagree with you there, hommy. There are lots of science involved in political science, it's not just comparing politics and looking at state interaction, electoral policies, etc. The science part comes in the capacity to evaluate what is learned/read. Analyzing information and assessing the evidence by looking at the nature of valid and invalids methods. Furthermore, you look at the developments of theories and hypothesis developed through anecdotal stories and single incidences which leads to systemic evidence. Furthermore, political scientists work with concepts, variables and theories, same logic which math is also derived from.
But, I studied Geography, understanding the physical environment, which I find quite interesting. I look at atmospheric processes, I interpret climate data and I learned about some basic meteorological skills such as weather map interpretations etc. So, as you can see Physical geographic is quite interesting these days with all the extreme weather patterns that are taking place today.
