I think the backlash must have come from the fact that that joke wasn't even funny. If your gonna be offensive, at least be witty.

Panel shows don't have limits nowadays. Though i don't condone what she says, no faith/philosophy is free from mockery/dark humour in these shows. I've seen Russell Howard speak bad of the Shariah numerous times on Mock the Week and his own personal show.
