Well not all Ukrainians, just the minority large ethnic Russians in the east for obvious reasons. The majority of Ukrainians want to associate with the EU/NATO. Same case with Georgia and that's why Russia supports separatist enclaves such as Abkhazia and South Ossetia to prevent them from joining

Russia wants Ukraine not to have closer ties with EU and to join the Russian economic bloc, but most Ukrainians rather be tied to EU than Russia.

russia has over 15,000 nukes. they can easily annex back eastern europe (ex-soviet states) and no one will lift a finger. i wonder why they haven't done that.

Because they`re not warmongers.....that's the role of the US/Nato.
It`s a minority of Ukrainians whom want closer ties with the EU.
If they were a majority they would have won the last election, and not be attempting to seize power in a putsch.

The vote was 48.95% to 45.47%, hardly a landslide, but you are wrong, most Ukrainians want the EU deal to go through, there have been plenty of public opinion polls on this issue. And before you say the opinion polls are biased, the same opinion polls correctly predicted the outcome of the 2010 presidential election in Ukraine.

Never believe opinion polling my friend. Was it not Christy Clark who was behind her main competitor by more than 20% for the past two years before the election only to defeat Dix by 5% points and with a larger seat count?

Unlike British Columbia, the polling firms actually correctly predicted the outcome of the election in Ukraine. Also if the crowds are any indicator, they also correctly predicted how people feel about the EU deal.

Ultimately people are going to believe what they want to believe. Regardless of the fact that Russia murdered the former president and violated campaign finance laws in Ukraine funnelling millions to get their puppet elected, and threaten to cut off oil supplies any time people protest against him, inevitably people are going to believe it's those nasty westerners who are the bad guys, and plucky Russia is just trying to be nice.

I choose to believe the result of the election.
The Ukrainian people had a clear choice and opted for the incumbent.
What a cheek you have to accuse the Russians of funneling money to their political favorites.
Haven`t the US/NATO countries been financing, "colour revolutions", from Belarus to Burma?
Most Ukrainians realise that joining the EU would lead to them being financially worse off.
Just ask the Baltics, Greece or Portuguese.
The deal with Russia will guarantee a secure long term supply of gas at favorable rates.
The thugs you see rioting in the streets of Kiev are mostly sympathizers of Ukrainian war time fascists.

Like I said, people will believe what they want to believe. Good luck with Russia ensuring your civil rights over those nasty westerners

Putin is a mujahid defending Mother Russia from being fucked like a whore by Uncle Sam. And we all know how pervy uncles can be. If I was Ukranian, I would seek closer ties with the EU because Russia is a basket case, but if I was Russian I would celebrate Putin's birthday.
