The false dream for youth in the West

Postby grandpakhalif » Thu Jan 02, 2014 5:43 pm

What do young people have for opportunity nowadays?

>High school diploma is worthless except for minimum wage
>minimum wage is not livable
>University is far beyond their means, enjoy debt forever
>community college is overcrowded and underfunded, as well as unreasonable for a decent education.
>Starting a business requires taxes, fees, and inspections out of their pocket far beyond their income level.
>Land is not available for purchase, and they have nowhere they can settle

So what opportunity is left for them? Work forever in a crap job so they can afford to barely exist until they die? So much for pursuit of happiness.

The place you live has no opportunities. Go to Alberta, learn a trade and you'll be making $30 an hour starting and 6 figures with experience. There is a welder who saved $1 million in 10 years in Fort Mac. Welding, electrician, pipefitting, etc. The full program only costs $2500 at NAIT in Edmonton. Then you get your tickets. If you don't mind living in Alberta, go for it. I used to bash the place but I realized its the only place for most young people. Don't waste your time going to uni if you're not getting your masters. Or just go to Alberta with whatever you studied. You'll find a job in your field much quicker. You'll get $40K-50K with "menial" jobs there.

NEWS FLASH!!! grandpa---actually, u got it right. Life is about how to exist until u die. It doesn't matter if u have money or not, actually it does--money will make u a little comfortable while u wait for your existence to expire. Basically, life is nothing but just living. If u can pay your shelter, food and clothes, u should be fortunate. U r better than suffering third world countries.( who cant afford the basics) My best advice for the youth is--find a hobby, don't sweat planning long term goals, live for today, and make sure u darn enjoy it. Ask yourself this---r u ready to die today? If the answer is NO, how sad for u. :stylin: I think I have enjoyed my life sufficiently and actually am flabbergasted as to how my life is centered and enjoyable. It is all in the glow of my skin and eyes. Of course there is a secret to this health. A healthy Schadenfreude is good. Enjoying the miseries of others puts a perspective into own your life.
