Yep, not surprising at all. Tunisians are arguably the most liberal Muslim Arabs. I was actually surprised when the Islamic Ennahda movement actually won in the 2011 elections.

GeoSeven, I am sure you're aware that Ennahda are more liberal wing. They do not call their opponents INFIDEL unlike scumMursi the egyptian brotherhood did. Ennahda believe negotiations will find the common ground.

Yep, a far cry from the Egyptian BH. They did relinquish power to keep the peace. Too much too fast could be a recipe for disaster, from Vegas to Mecca...people need time to adjust, Islamists groups like Ennahda understand this.

They aren't free to adopt Sharia as source of law. The old guards never relinquished power, just like Egypt. If the experiment of the Arab Spring has proved anything, it's that Islamists would never gain power nor would Sharia be adopted through a democratic process. Sharia and Islamists are anathema to the very existence of the West, and they would fight it tooth and nail not to happen.

Shows that an Islamic party will never be allowed to rule a nation through 'democracy'. Seculars don't realize that by being sore losers they're only giving bullets to groups like HSM.

Religion and democracy are not compatible. Parties with religious platforms shouldn't even be allowed to run in elections. Democracy = majority rules, minority rights. Minority rights are generally not protected when religious parties are in power. Its not what democracy is all about. It becomes a circus.

And they should never be given the chance to rule.
How can one take part in a western system of "democracy" while claiming to be an Islamic party?
Any Islamic party that come to power through so called "democracy" deserve to be humiliated like Morsi!
Tittles and fancy Islamic names don't mean shyt!

Colonel, why don't you live in a religious country if you hate secularism? Why live in the West that you clearly despise? I've never understood this. You never see us secularists come to your countries. Why come to ours? Of course because secularism and liberalism increases quality of life and gives freedoms that are not given in your religious lands. It gives you dignity. Its very unfair for you to bash secularism when you've reaped its benefits. You could have very well been a fatal victim of religion in your religious countries that you adore. Maybe shot to death for having a different interpretation or killed by members of another faith for revenge killing
I suggest you go live in a religious country and voice your anti secular views there. Don't take advantage of our democracy and basically take a shit on the very values that allowed you to live on this Earth a lot longer than you would have in religious countries. Secularism gave you a second chance in life

Colonel
How dare you call me a secularist?
But then again most of us here live under a secular system,
in peace and security where our women can wear their Muslim veil,
and brothers with their full Islamic garms.
I wouldn't know who AQ and co are, but what i cannot stand is this foolish idea
that one can participate in an un-Islamic political system with the misguided believe
that they will implement the Sharia.
what was that Somali maah maah...something xaarani nirig xalaal ah ma dhasho...
or something along those lines.
Calling bacon, eggs and toast Halal breakfast doesn't make it so.
