Listen I don't have the time to give you long historical accounting of the migration and settling of historical palastine by arabs and jews. But I will say this. Prior to the collapse of the Ottaman empire -- jews, muslims and christians lived in what today Isreal and occupied terrorities. At the turn of the 20th century, jews started migrating to historical palastine in an effort to get a patch of land to call their home. The pouring in of jews into the holy hand continued after the Ottaman empire collapsed and the British took control. There were skirmishes and tensions between the arabs (mainly muslims) and jews during all that time. Never blew over to full scale war or strife. But the tension, hate, suspicion was there, simmering and festering below the surface. The grand mufti of Jeruselam, out of spite, sided with the Nazis during WW2. There were muslims in the Nazi military (Bosnians and others).

But after Isreal was established 1947, full scale war broke out. There was expulsion of native inhabitants on both sides with muslims faring the worst. Completion of 1948 war further worsened the enmity between muslims and jews, it became almost IMPOSSIBLE for jews to live in muslim Mid-Eastern countries. Shortly afterwards jews started to immigrate to Isreal or other countries. But while jews were leaving muslims countries, arabs were moving into Isreal in ever increasing numbers. I was watching a very interesting program last night about suicide bombing in Israel. They had one suicide bomber who was captured before he could detonate his bomb. He said he made a "Mistake" (for which he is serving 16 years in prison). But he maintains there can only be one state, Palestine, that all Jews who are the children of emigres must return to the countries they came from, and that the one Palestinian state must be ruled by Shari'a. Oh yeah, the Jews are gonna go for that. Hell of a negotiating position that guy has.

BMax, we know the historical formation of the state of Israel, but aren't you aware that Israelis fled from their land, currently the disputed territories , because of religious persecution. This land has been a land of conflict from centuries to centuries and the Israaelis have been there from the beginning.

Be honest here. On Israeli television there is not a steady stream of yahoos saying "Kill Arabs where you find them, anywhere in the world." When was the last time we saw an Israeli strap a bomb on and walk into a Palestinian market. Yes, there are Israelis who think that a two state solution is no solution - I grant you that. But they are a minority. More than 50% of the Palestinians do not believe Israel has a right to exist as a state. And anti-Jewish media blares absurd messages EVERY DAY. I ain't saying that the Israelis are the good guys and the Palestinians the bad, but clearly right now the foxes are running the hen house in Palestinian controlled areas.

In 1947 the Israelis decided to accept the UN partition. The Arabs did not. Until 1994, the PLO did not even acknowledge Israels right to exist. Even now, they have never laid a proposal on the table. And when they talk around it, it's always a dime late and a dollar short. They always wait until they've lost a war, and then propose what they just lost as the solution. Every time.
