You're the 10th guy now to have said described it like that. I need to watch it now.

Does Putlocker show it on the net? I'm not gonna hit the screens to watch it.
This.

But it's sooo popular I might just give in. That many people can't be wrong

Black Americans are useless people. Jews, Homosexuals even other minorities manage to lobby for their interests. These people were subjected to 400 years of slavery and their situation haven't changed one bit. They're still under the yoke of bondage.

The film was  , some scenes were disturbing but thats the naked truth. To be honest only 10% of what the slaves went through was portrayed in that film.

I watched it.....(This might contain some spoilers) lol

What's the driving hype for this film????? It can't be the wretchedd sound design, out of balance soundtrack, cliched performance and not to mention the worthless ending..... It reminds me of what kubrick said about schindler's list, how the holocaust was not about the one jew who survived, but the 6 million who didn't.. The very same applied to 12 years a slave...

At end, a white man comes flying in, Solomon leaves it like was all just a bad dream, nice hugs with family and children..It also begs the question, would we care about the institution of slavery any less with out the torture porn which barely ever happened?, why the heck do so many hack directors choose to play up the same cliches, like there's already not enough emotions seeing your life pass by in bondage.

That's another problem with this film, no sense of time. The whole, it was just a bad dream effect kills any feeling of hopelessness and normality. We all know from the very beginning Solomon will make it out, this alll just temporary for him and more important for us. It's a pretty sad thought, but after shame and this film...I have to say McQueen has peaked as a director and will never be the same greatness shown in his first film hunger..smh

I watched 12 years a slave the other night, shit had me feeling some type of way.
Made me momentarily reconsider my hatred for AAs.

Question yankees, in the era of the civil rights, when there was segregation, was the coloured folks strictly blacks? How were the mexicans/japanese/red indians/other ethnicities treated in that respect?

Japanese were in internment camps in World War 2 (after Pearl Harbor)

Chinese faced racism ever since the 19th century

Latinos same way

Native Americans were treated like shid and killed by these cadaan. Forcibly evicted from their lands irregardless of their tribe.

But none of them on the levels of blacks. The Japanese Americans got reparations for WW2. African Americans only get a few apologies here and there.

Without the AAs though, most of is who are recent immigrants or children of immigrants don't get any ounce of opportunity here. The civil rights movement helped shape how minorities could actually make it here.

In the Muslim community it doesn't get talked about enough. These Pakistani and Indians talk about how they came here as students and were able to make a better life here in the 1970s but don't mention anything about the civil rights movement like :wtf:
