how much do the somali news sites make per month?

I heard the owner of HOL earns $15000 per month, do you agree with this or no? Any other sites?

HOL owner lives in subsidized housing and drives a Mazda. He cant make anywhere close to $15K. Maybe half that. But he doesn't operate his website in his basement like all other websites. He has an actual office in a commercial building so he is doing well. Just not $180K a year.

Almost all websites don't make anything substantial. Don't be fooled. HOL is one of maybe 2 or 3 websites that actually make an income. The rest are just hobbies. Amal or Dahabshiil pay the other websites $100-200 a month to post their ads.

That was what I heard but according to these numbers, the site may earn close to 80k per month as per visitor is 28 pence, visitors per month 275,570.

Hadhwanaag, the sole non-tribal Somali website? Lol, that had me cracked like you would not believe! Anyway, I, honestly, doubt there is a single Somali website out there that is not clan driven. None, nada. Having said that, though, I think, some sites are worse, way worse, than others, in terms of being objective in dispensing information or reporting news. Of all the myriads of Somali sites on the web, I would rank Hiiraanonline, as the least biased. Of course, that is not to say, Hiiraanonline is bias free.

They had problems with HOL, many tvs, etc

HOL was hated by all the hiiraan administrations because they cover more al shabaab also reveal the ethiopian activities in there

HOL has one problem wich is they may hide the truth bc of their interests, eg they don't cover things that are againist kenya like the kismayo war, maybe its abit influenced.

His sons upload all the English news and his employees upload the Somali news. I'm friends with his son. His dad teaches journalism to young people in Hargeisa as well and makes an income out of that as well.

HOL is obviously the most visited and most revenue making Somali news site but he is not a millionaire lol. The revenue made is from the personal ads he puts up. That doesn't generate tens of thousands per month. He is unique though in that he lives solely on his website revenue

HOL bureau chief office is based in minnesota but the office in gigri in nairobi wich im talking about is a contractor office, kenya, UDPOS, and hawaaladaha have involved in it and some of them may have an unseen influence on its covering.
His son could be the last editor but HOL had great editors like the ex resource minister abrizaaq mohamud followed by abdi aynte the director of HIPS.
