Don't let those big buildings fool you. I just came back from there. Addis Ababa is a mess. Dirty place and way too many dirt poor people. On average war torn Somalia has better living conditions than Ethiopia.

^ Not to mention, the place smells like shidh. I don't know whether the issues' are correlated to poor maintenance or burst sewer pipes, but it certainly has a stench in some areas.

:snoop: Africans are so superficial and ignorant. A few shiny buildings and they think their tuulo is New York. My cousin just got back from Somalia via Addis and he said it was one of the smelliest and ugliest cities on earth. Don't get me wrong, they're still miles ahead of somalis in terms of basic infrastructure, but who isn't? Addis is not the city I would be using as an example if I was looking for a role model for Somalia.

My point of this thread is for us to remember that our neighbours are developing whilst we are busy being ruled by them. Ethiopia might be a dirty country and poor, but it is one of the fastest growing African country and we cannot deny their development. I have been to Ethiopia few times, yes most people are poor and they are dirty. There shanty towns around, but I have also seen lots and lots of development.
