My problem is I have reasonable expectations from my people? Are they retarded? Maybe I should look for a comparison lower down the evolutionary chain. Russia, China, India and America are giant countries. It would be unfair to compare us to them. But tiny britain ruled the world almost a century ago. The only natural resource it had was coal. It is three times smaller than Somalia and yet the amount of influence it had was staggering. You might think that's another unfair example but I will ask why? In terms of land mass we are bigger. In terms of resources we have much more. We claim we are muslim as well which should give us another advantage. We are placed on the most strategic region in the world and the greatest trade corridor rivalling the silk road. So why are we speaking english instead of vice versa?
But seriously though, I wouldn't call comparing us Somalis to the 17 spacefaring nations among the 196 countries in the world a "reasonable expectation."
Its because of that very reason they had to venture out of their land, brutally colonize other lands whose peaceful people were less technologically advance than them and steal their resources. Britain's current world status is build on of the foundation of hundreds of years of pillaging and plundering innocent cultures, so I really wouldn't compare us to them, or wish our country was more like them. ummm....because British Empire colonized many countries in almost every continent and spread their language across the world? I'm just spitballing here, I ain't a historian, its just a wild guess.So why are we speaking english instead of vice versa?
Some say British Empire was successful and advanced because they were well educated compared to other nations at the time which later led to the Industrial Revolution which of course helped their cause immensely, others say its thanks to good old Imperialism, the sea power of the British Navy and of course, gaining income from conquered colonies to build their empire even more. But that's not what you want to hear is it, you probably want something along the lines of "they're smarter, and we're apes."Lol you are answering the question without answering the question. I don't want to divert the topic but what I'm asking is why it was technologically advanced compared to nations who had the funds and resources to be more advanced?
