Dither African teams

Postby Lamagoodle » Tue Jun 17, 2014 1:49 pm

Once, every four years, Afrophiles, like your correspondent pray and hope that the outcome this time will be different. That an African team will bring much needed lights to our dark continent. Abject poverty, corrupt governments, withering human rights and other ills, nationalism and racism takes a backseat to give way to glory for Mother Africa.

Many of us- Somalis- become champions of pan-Africanism every four years despite our bigotry to other Africans.

However, every four years, it is the same old story. It seems that we are watching a rerun of an old poorly directed movie staring ciyaalka xaafada. We start by exaggerating the potential strengths of African teams. We create expectations and raise our hopes. But, we are always disappointed. The outcome is always the same; disorganised defensive lines, indiscipline and sloppy play from professionals that are on the a-team in their respective clubs.

Many of the players behave as if they are on a date to impress ladies. They seem to lend support to the racial picture of the African man,as a primitive sexual being that suffers from gonorrhoea of the brain.

Ghana, Algeria and Cameron (the first time Mexico won against an African team) have all lost their opening games against what were billed as poorer teams. The Nigerian game against Iran was probably the worst game of the tournament. With a 0-0 score against Iran, Nigeria does not deserve to win any of its two remaining game.

With two matches remaining against strong teams, I am guessing none of the above 4 teams will qualify for the second round.

Ivory Coast won but not convincingly.

What's really baffling is how the Ghanaian coach left Boateng and Essien on the bench for more than 60 minutes :mindblown:

is it any more baffling than keeping Drogba out as well? if Ghana coach was not black, i'd think it was a conspiracy by all these white managers to continue to keep the african teams down. :snoop: losing to the americans was embrassing.

Cameroon

It is sad Garoweboy and Ismaciil. I think the only team that stands a chance is Ivory Coast.

Shirib, I don't think there is a conspiracy. The African teams usually lack discipline, are disorganised (this has improved alot) and lack a team spirit.

In this world cup, it is baffling that Nigeria did not score against Iran

Ivory Coast looks strong against Colombia though

But why is the strongest African Team always in the group of death? This has been the case past 3 world cups. Ivory Coast was in the group of death in 2006 and 2010. Ghana is in the Group of Death this year.

Shirib, depends on what you mean by group of "death"; Who would have predicted that Spain will lose two games in a row?

Thus far all the African teams have lost or draw against "weak" teams on paper; and that speaks volume.

If you cannot be beat all teams, you do not deserve to win the cup.

Did you watch Cameroon's game last night?

Ghana and Nigeria should've had won their first games. Cameroon are always an embarrassment  Walahi Nigeria's game I watched with disgust I give credit to Iran but when you are a continents champions you're suppose to stand out and Nigeria didn't do that. I feel like the tittle doesn't belong to them cause Ghana and Ivory Coast are much better than them. Shirib is right too the best african teams usually end up in tough groups it's been like that the last 2 World Cups. If Africans want to be respected they should come prepared and go mad in the tournament instead of being out played and embarrassed half the time. I really hope Ivory Coast really goes far and Yaya shows them Europeans and SA teams who's the boss.

European teams are always strong. The South American teams too. Central America, USA, Australia and Asian countries are weaker. African countries should win against teams from these countries.

Gosh. Colombia just scored   One chance, one goal.

Jaale,

I think African teams are a decade or so away from legitimately competing for a title.

Shiribow, you could be right.

In my humble opinion, African teams are mirror images of African countries; they don't learn. The concept of development/progress is alien to them.

Little has changed since this:

The Ghana - Germany match was probably the best match thus far. The Ghanians were tired at the end ( despite billed as well trained). I think they deserved a win.

They have a tough match against Portugal. I guess their chance of advancing is minimal.

Nigeria has also Argentina left and will prob.ably be beaten.

Only Ivory Coast the chance to advance.

Jaale bro Nigeria won today they have 4 pts now. Even of they lose to Argentina they will still advance. Iran has to beat Bosnia by 2 goals at least if they wanna go through which is unlikely. Insha Allah Ivory Coast will beat Greece and advance too. The Greece will fight till the last whistle bro and if we have learned anything from this World Cup it's that anything can happen at any given moment. I wish Ghana goes through because they are a great team and great to watch. If USA loses tomorrow Ghana has a good chance of advancing because it will come down to the last game which they can win. If Ghana pulls it of we will have 3 African teams heading to round of 16. :D
