Yeah, you can start. I've only started paying last year myself...have to find out if I have to pay back the Zakah I missed for the previous year or two. Just make sure you calculate everything correct

Zakat al Fitr, you need to pay enough to feed a person for every person you are responsible, i.e. if you are married man and have 2 children, you will need to pay enough to feed four people. This must be done before the Eid prayer.It must be paid by all who have the means to do it.

The regular zakat you pay on 2.5% of your liquid wealth after a certain amount of money.
