What is glaringly shouting out of this so called article is the fact that, the writer claims soccer does not have a hero. It is so like an American mentality. So imbued in Hollywood-- Good guys vs. bad guys-story line mentality- that, they need to relate or look up to a hero in order to feel 'whole'. Football has a quarterback, Basketball has a King James, or Former Jordan. Americans have this propensity to crown an individual into pedestal status, in order to feel good. (soccer has no consistent goaler, or hero, usually it is a team--team sport.) LOOOOOL
I am surprised Americans don't have a royal King or Prince to bow over or swoon over. No wonder they adore Prince William and commoner Kate. (and now-little prince George is the most popular ugly fat baby in America)
The writer of this article is just suffering from xenophobia, and craves a good story via Hollywood with a happy ending. He wants to convince us that the average 25 millions viewers of the world cup here in the states have no grand father who was born here???? LOOOOOOOOOL Oh so we r u just going skip over the son, and grandson who were born here, and just start bashing the grand dad immigrant? Dumb modafcuker. But funny modafcuker. LOOOOL
