Growing up my parents told me whatever you do don't hang around Somalis, until university that is. My first exposure to them enmasse was on slife, then it was University. It got to the point where I headed their student group on campus. :snoop:

Somalis or rather people cannot derail you from your plans. I actually spend alot of my time on my own; it keeps me focused. I sparingly hang around friends. I will agree with you on one thing, it makes it so no one really has any influence over you.

<<<< I like my independence. When I choose to hang around my small circle of friends I do. I prefer loyal, like-minded and lowkey people in my clique.

Since growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood, I had mostly Caucasian friends with the exception of 2 Eritrean friends. When I got into High school, I started a friendship with this shy Somali girl, we got along so well. After High school, I went to Augsburg College, the campus is located near little Muqdisho. So I had no other choice but to be friends with Somalis, my current Somali friends are cool. We all went to College together.
