Please tell us the name of the imaginary Somalilander who created Somalia's flag? You can't write a fictional story without giving the protagonist a name. Tsk, tsk.
Quoted myself for emphasis.

:som: PM me when you figure out a name amongst yourselves. :som:

Is this topic worthy?
During the London protest there were loads of different flags being waved.. Turkury, Pakistan, Algeria etc

I guess its to show the world that people from these countries are against the genocide!

Took you long enough, although I doubt that in 1954 whilst you were in the clutches of Italian Colonialism that you managed to bring down the italian flag and to raise the somalia flag, it would only make sense that took place during your independence. But then again I really couldn't careless, it's your flag, your anthem the more I detach myself away from patriotism and nationalism the better.

Dear god, this is who I was trying to engage in intelligent discourse. Somalia was not under colonialism in 1954, it was in transitional trusteeship. No wonder you're lying about the creator of the flag, you haven't a clue about Somali history. Astounding

"Mr. Mohammed Awale Liban had been selected by the Somali labour trade union. Then members suggested the the Somalia national flag must be adopted by the legislative council in order that the Somali people could get to know their National Flag before independence. When the legislative council agenda reached the discussion on the Somali National Flag, Mr. Liban proposed that only the Somali members should discuss the issue. According to the legislative council's constitution each new proposal had to be voted on by all the council members. Mr Liban proposal was adopted and the Somali members of the council chose Mr. Sheik Omar to be Chairman. The temporary new chairman said that the issue of the national flag would be debated the next day, following which Mr. Liban went home and started to design the Flag. He chose the blue colour to represent peace and the UN and placed a white 5-pointed star in the centre. Each point of the white star was to represent the five Somali regions which had been divided by the colonial powers."

@Subeir, this dude is a complete liar...in 1954 Italy was angry that they lost in the war and took their anger on the subjugated people by using them to cross the river via their back.

I believe there are more important things to study in the world than petty colonialist history, tell me, are you independent today despite claiming to be a independent nation? If so, then why does your president need to be guarded by foreign troops, why can't he walk in his own land if he truly is independent?

The answer to that question my friend is, claiming to be independent is different from actually being independent, you can cry it out all you want but the fact remains that your nation today is the suckling child of the western dogma, that is the most despondent and unworthy position of all.
