Dhaanto is actually danced in SL. Mainly southern and south western Maroodi Jeex and Awdal.

However the Somali region got this dance on lock and this song was on fire, after all they were praising caasimada Hargeisa. :stylin:

The Somali region is where I took my first steps as a toddler. I was invited by a cousin in Jigjiga to come next year even though I declined I'm having second thoughts.

Not this type of dhaanto though, it is native to Somali Galbeed. On a side note the tall girls of Jigjiga are good for the eyes.

True, in Somaliland it's the Hirwo and Saylici and both fall under dhaanto but they're different from this one.

Indeed, they're good for the eyes.

LOL @ witchcraft

I was invited to this, and I'm glad I didn't go. They recorded for tv too? Lucky me!

Its a fun beat, but I don't personally adore the dance.

They're paying homage to hoyga fanka iyo suugaanta and legends such as Cabdi Qeys, Khadra Daahir etc. and others from SL that revolutionized Somali music.

Why do they move like they're skiing? Nope, prefer the regular dhaanto with the swinging of the arms, thankyou.
