A study is not needed for this. Brainwashed idiot men like to think women with FGM are not as sexually excited (just look at some of the boys on here) and that they are cleaner - not definitive. Having your genitals disturbed doesn't make a woman less capable of feeling excitement, she is probably just more terrified of engaging because of the pain/embarrassment associated with the first encounter. These men are just evil bastards who want to think they can control their wife's sexuality.

I've asked, and alot of men don't want it. It gets in the way of pleasure with their women, but as one man explained, "the nerves under the skin are still there, even if most are gone...if the man loves her he will try to maximize what she can feel."

Older women are the ones who influence the mothers to get their daughters circumcised. School kids in smaller towns know who was or wasn't, courtesy of old lady talk, and tease each other if they aren't circumcised. It's a vicious cycle, and everyone is responsible.
