Qabil is completely economical system, improve the economics and the dependency on qabil will dramatically decrease. For example:

Maintaining ones xoolo, you need to have protection from raiders and gauaranteed grazing land.
Paying of Mag, since killing someone the price is a 100 camels, so you need some kind of insurance.

These are the two main reasons for Qabil in Somali society. So if you have a state apparatus that can protect and try criminals outside our xeer system, then you will see Qabilism reduced. Political Qabilism is a relatively new thing and I don't think it will last long.

Qabyaalad can be removed through better education, better security and accountibility and more wealth. Right now somalis are destitute, ignorant and are in survival mode. But then what is the excuse of qurbajoog qabilists? Some of the most virilent and offensive tribalists in this very forum live and have grown up in the west.

@PO a perfect world neither exists nor does it concern me, Somalia's crapsack world does.

"But then what is the excuse of qurbajoog qabilists? Some of the most virilent and offensive tribalists in this very forum live and have grown up in the west."

I was just having a conversation last night about that.

What is your excuse indeed (to the qorba). Is qabiil your only link to home, and therefore becomes a matter of pride to not be messed with? What personal vendetta do you have against another tribe, so much that you actually make yourself look like utter twats? If there was a qabiil war to be fought, our parents and grandparents fought it for you! And we are still here like monkeys repeating their mistakes.

Another point to ponder is that Somalis are one of the only people who suffer from so much self-hate, that they refuse to rebuild their country, and seem proud of it. :?

Come home guys! Walahi I am SO sure, so utterly convinced, that if the educated masses of the qorba came home en masse, our children would be seeing a FAR brighter future. It may sound scary, but why not build your futures here? Your businesses, your homes, your hard cash, your IDEAS, your INTELLIGENCE, your MODERNITY ....it would advance our people greatly, beginning from our largest cities.

Run out the reer badiye who are in government offices, the simple minded officers who received their training with a cup of shah under some tree, those incapable of building a nation because qabiil and protecting personal interests took over. While you are all over there, they are here running the show.

Everyone is so afraid of getting a papercut, while your legs are being chopped off.
