I was listening to a Somali shiekh on tv a while back, and I am still noticing things he said about this plague, qabiilism, and how it is in every facet of Somali life. It manifests in different ways, so even if you are not party to it, you are subjected.

1. No matter what causes a situation or crisis, the other person's qabiil will be called out and attacked because it is the fault of the other person's qabiil . "No matter how strong the storm was, your qabiil built those power lines that cut my power."
2. My/Your dislike of a qabiil will always come into play when dealing/not dealing with you and your business "Oh ninkaan _____ ayuyahay, maxaad ninkan kale u wiiciwaydey"
3. Because we are not the same qabiil, I will not deal with you as honestly/fairly/diligently as I would my own "oh ninkaas ____ ayuyahay, carodiisa maxa kaagaley"

(I think some Snetters remember my thread about UN officials being qabilist and not awarding tenders for bids from specific tribes)

The problem of working out of Somali lands is that you may come as innocently intentioned as possible, but if someone else carries this sickness (like MANY of the people in this forum),your business will suffer.

Another friendly reminder walaalayaal. I know you even be a part of this plague, but Just keep this in mind, all this moving forward we want to badly can only being done when we work together.

I didn't know my qabill untill I was 21 and my subclan untill I was 24. A few things I learned on here helped me explain why some friends I know behave in a certain way. Some tribes have alot of cuqdad and are best avoided.

Otherwise, I agree with you. It seems those who have been raised into knowing their qabiil and who to associate with generally fall into one of the three mentioned above, even if on a subconscious level.

Yeah we have no future if we are still thinking like that. Some places are better than others. The more rural it is the worse.

The funny thing is Qabil is not even real, it's all made up for survival. people use to change tribe if the settled with people for a long time.

People fight/kill/die for their tribes. How can it be okay to just say you're a different tribe. I've never heard of that.

It happens most when the fighting is the worst and you need more men. Where do you thing the term sheegato comes from, it's some one incorporated into the tribe, they even take new lineage, some keep their old lineage. Some tribes do it more than others.

qabiil is taboo and the somali ppl who have understanding should work together to make it atleast harmless.

If you look deep into it, you will only find one answer---> Competition and that competition will never end, but we can use it positive instead of negative, put the weapons down and every man should rebuild his native regions. the competition will drive them crazy and you will see somalia breaking world records, and moving towards the future faster then ever.

Tribalism is disease walee. I once said to a very qabil driven guy "walal you are going to die and go into your grave alone with no qabil status" He replied " at least I will die as a HJ" lol smh. I'm done trying to address such people. We will never move forward unless we stump out this issue.

An insidious and pervasive disease. No rational human would engage in this self-defeating past-time. Unfortunately, there are very few rational somalis and getting rid of qabyaalad will be an uphill struggle, if there is any will to get rid of it in the first place. Just look at the so called western educated xoolo on this forum.

I reckon getting rid of qabyaalad all together is a pipe dream. Lakin a real difference will/can be made if we portray the true effect of qabil and it's utter destruction of our home/dignity and somalinimo to the younger and coming generation, only then we might have a chance. I truly believe in the saying of "Be the change you wish to see" starting with our own younger siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces. Any hope lays with them they're the future.
