I was wondering if you would be able to help me with a project I have been working on with a friend and colleague, Mohamed Dione, surrounding the topic of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/FGC).
We plan to create a documentary to increase the dialogue about this cultural practice between those who have direct experience with the procedure and those who are not familiar with (or at risk) FGM/FGC. We want to their to be a global conversation so that people of all ages in the more developed world (i.e. the U.S, Canada, Europe) understand that they have as much influence over the elimination of this practice as those in countries with high prevalence rates.
The project is still very much in the work. We are currently looking for women and girls to interview (preferably from Guinea, Egypt, Senegal, and Somalia) who have undergone the procedure or know a female in their family who have been circumcised. Someone who is willing to share their story or at least talk about their feelings toward the practice.
Here is the information:
Caramel Cappuccino Films is developing a Documentary on FGM (Female Genital Mutilation/Female Circumcision) and its effects on girls and women. We are currently seeking women and girls who have had any and all forms of female circumcision who would like to share their stories. We are currently looking for girls/women who live in the United States but all interested women are encouraged to contact us. If you know anyone interested please have them email us at

If you could reach out to some of your friends and pass this information along, I would be most grateful.
