The shortcut is always there but its mostly about seeking a pure forgiveness that will last forever

Those with guilt act impulsively, right? Instead of dying in a war which you are probably killing muslims why not lead a pious life, go to hajj, memorize Quran etc. Why a shortcut?

But I cannot decide their fate that's up to Allah. Who knows what will happen to them.

Why do people think jihad is a shortcut to heaven?

Do you think leaving your family and your comfortable life to a distant life full of hardship and uncertainity is easy? Do you think constantly being under threat of drones and intelligence agencies is easy? Do you think entering into the fray of battle where death can be imminent is psychologically simple? Do you think losing your comrades right in front of your eyes is easy? Do you think sleepless nights and constantly being on gaurd is easy?

Yeah I'm sure all that is a shortcut to heaven unlike sleeping in your Western silk beds and eating Honey- o - Cheerios watching sunday cartoons is difficult.

Why do people think jihad is a shortcut to heaven?

By shortcut he didn't mean as 'easy'. By shortcut he meant it is the quickest way for them to seek heaven, especially those sinful people. Also sinful people are more likely be easily brainwashed since they are desperate. Thats why most of the jihadis of today are ex-cons, drunkards, tattoo bikers, thugs, reverts, rapist, etc.

I don't think al shabaab recruits British ex rappers ,club goers, and party people, but rather Muslims from the area as ground forces who don't have an opportunity to ever partake in that culture/lifestyle or probably have the want or will to. Culture plays a big part in this.

Also al-shabaab is not innocent they force girls to marry against their will to fighters, they are not innocent people.
