It's easy and it's called sabaayad. Don't bring in f-king hindi in our language.

hey, easy, no need to curse at me. sabaayad is rectangular and it does not have layers.

Kimis comes from the ancient egyptian word for black or desert like colour. People have been eating kimis since egyptian times.i am baasto ancient egyptians even chewed khat.

Sabayaat with cream cheese and honey with a hot cup if tea.

This is the same recipe I follow when making sabayaat. I fold the ends together instead of making it into a coil.

P.s

The host said East Africa follow the same recipe. She mentioned Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania.

That is only my theory about the word origin.but kimis or muufo are ancient ways of making bread.

Yes, folding the ends together then rolling it out creates the flaky layers. Once I folded over two times, but it turned weird lol, didnt do that again.

I have had kimiis in Tanz, and it does not taste the same. It was so thick and just...not the same :(
