The Inspiring Fortitude of the Somali People

Postby LoveandLight » Mon Oct 13, 2014 7:58 pm

The Somali people are a hardy people who have contended with calamities both natural and man made since the upheaval of 1991 and beyond. I wonder where Somalia would be today had there been peace? With the entrepreneurial deftness of Somali businessmen keeping cities afloat with infrastructure like telecommunications, electricity, and water in cities and towns without a secure and functioning central government; I think Somalia would have been a jewel in Africa. The land and water is blessed with riches, yet the people are poor. This theme is recurrent in Africa. I pray for a miracle where Somalia becomes peaceful and prosperous. Amiin. :som:

Ameen walaal. There is so much effort to rebuild Somalia...we all want out of the rut that has become our nation. But as this forum proves, qabilism is too strong. Inshallah if our children don't see a better Somalia, their children will. I want the Somalia of the 60s and 70s to return.

To know that Somalis could travel to any corner of the nation and be known simply as a Somali instead of being despised for their lineage must be a beautiful memory for our elders. Inshallah that time will return. It's not impossible. :)

You mean the disintigration of morality and decency of the somali people. If you are to read any of the topics on this forum, you wouldn't be wrong to think that at least 50% of somalis suffer from mental retardation and 90% have no moral compass. Every topic devolves into "qabiil X is better than qabiil Y" and these morons never stop to think that they are refugees living on somebody else's kindness and hospitality and that Somalia is a shithole so posting ugly tin shanty-towns only serves to make them look like buffoons. There is no infrastructure back home apart from the one that serves somalis love of hadal and gossip - telecommunication. Things are so bad that there isn't even a single decent doctor in the whole country and any serious sickness is practically a death sentence. Thic coupled with the shamelessness of somalis in qurbaha who are either thugs/criminals, benefit-fraudsters, illiterate house-wives and fadhikudirir experts who spend more time in a maqaaxi than with his own kids. If even after over 2 decades of gypsynimo, qaxootinimo, ceeb, being treated like shit accross the world, raped, beaten and caged like wild animals can't unite somalis then nothing will. Xoolo deserve to be used and abused by other nations like ethiopia and Kenya.

Good day friend, I hear and echo your sentiments. The '60s and '70s were exciting times (kind of like the excitement felt by a person in their twenties chasing their dreams, but on a national scale). These were carefree times. The nascent democracy had hope. Jobs were being created. There was investment in the country. Tourists were coming to the country. There was so much potential economically. People lived peacefully in Xamar together. Good times.

From my experience for the most part, Somali people are friendly and welcoming. Let the happy times return. Peace to all.

Take care.
