I did not want to derail Tuush's appreciation thread, but I couldn't help notice your response regarding jinns, I thought id ask here and open the subject to all who can contribute..

by the way, i was couched by my dad not to speak with them when they show themselves to you. just keep ignoring them and read your quran or ad'eyah.

I'd like to know too so my question... is there another way to identify a jinn when they show themselves to an ins, other than them assuming the appearance of man or animals? In other words, does the jinn have it's own form that a human can identify, I've heard stories but it sounds too out there

I don't know if it's true but I've heard from multiple people that jinns supposedly have horse feet. Weird but interesting. This is a topic a lot of people fear and shy away from.

No experience with jinns, hopefully never, but you're right, I am very much intrigued by the unseen world...and not in imaginative way but more in the interest of knowing more on what's been revealed to humans

lol, I'm not one of those women cherine.. But u know what I noticed from all the stories I've heard/researched...most, not all, but most women when asked about jinns, their first thought is similar to your assessment, it's always about paranoia of women soliciting jinn help to get a man or break a marriage etc. the world of jinn is vast and far more interesting than this

MARID (pronounced MAA–rid)
Large and imposing, the marid are considered the most powerful tribe of jinn. They are the classic genies of folklore, often portrayed as barrelchested men with booming voices.

Intelligent and cunning, the effrit are thought to live in complex societies similar to those of humans. They are said to prefer caves and under ground dwellings. Effrit are not to be taken lightly, but they can only be guarded against by the standard information safety protocols used with human threats—be wary of unverified interlocutors and executable content, and if your system slows or behaves oddly, conduct a thorough scan or contact your IT professional.

SILA
Talented shape-shifters who are more tolerant of human society than other tribes of jinn, sila are most often portrayed as female. Thought to be extremely intelligent, sila are nonetheless the most rarely seen of all the types of jinn, and appear only sporadically in folklore. I have known guys that get so paranoid about the shirt they wearing, and thats no joke.
