The soft approach - When you get the urge or feel inspired to do a little bit just do that much and these will add up until you've done it all
The methodical approach - Divide the task up into little bits and set a date by which you plan on completing each mini-task keep soldiering on with bitesize tasks and before you know it you'd have reached the end
The thing I have noticed though is how those little tasks you do thinking they're just filling time while you procrastinate and sit down to do the real work, those small seemingly meaningless words/actions are actually what your final report is made up of. Before you know it you have an intro or a conclusion etc
